Regulation 1987/2006 SIS II

Regulation (EC) No 1987/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 2006 on the establishment, operation and use of the second generation Schengen Information System (SIS II) [COD(2005)0106; COM(2005)0236; In operation on 9 April 2013]

Legal base = in particular Articles 62(2)(a), 63(3)(b) and 66 TFEU

62(2)(a): The Council, acting in accordance with the procedure referred to in Article 67, shall, within a period of five years after the entry into force of the Treaty of Amsterdam, adopt > measures on the crossing of the external borders of the Member States which shall establish > a standards and procedures to be followed by Member States in carrying out checks on persons at such borders
63(3)(b): The Council, acting in accordance with the procedure referred to in Article 67, shall, within a period of five years after the entry into force of the Treaty of Amsterdam, adopt > measures on immigration policy within the following areas > illegal immigration and illegal residence, including repatriation of illegal residents
66: The Council, acting in accordance with the procedure referred to in Article 67, shall take measures to ensure cooperation between the relevant departments of the administrations of the Member States in the areas covered by this title, as well as between those departments and the Commission
